Let's take this opportunity to honor our amazing educators at St. Bernard's School! DUE 11/7/25
Shine a Light on Catholic Education’s Brightest Educators!
The NCEA Lead. Learn. Proclaim. Awards (LLP) celebrate those whose lives shine with the essence of Catholic education—pastors who guide with courage, educators who ignite a passion for truth, and faithful servants who advance the mission of the Church by forming both minds and hearts for Christ. Nominate the educator in your school community whose actions have engaged, empowered, and inspired those around them.
The LLP honors recognize those who use their gifts and platforms to transform their Catholic education communities through purpose-driven ministry and faith-filled initiatives. The nominee has proven to be dedicated to the promotion of academic excellence and model a deep commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church in education. Eligible nominees include board members, system leaders, school leaders, and teachers currently active in a Catholic school or network.
As scripture reminds us, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under a bushel basket… and not to be placed on a lampstand?” (Mark 4:21). Let’s not keep the light of these inspiring leaders hidden—nominate them today so their light can shine for all.
But don’t wait—the deadline is Friday, November 7, 2025. For questions, contact Fr. Tom Simonds at tom@ncea.org.
May God continue to bless all of us working in the vineyard of Catholic education.
Fr. Tom Simonds, SJ, Ed.D.

We are thrilled to announce St. Bernard's Family Fun, our new program dedicated to building community, making connections, and, most importantly, having fun! This is a fun-raiser, not a fundraiser—our goal is simply to get the St. Bernard's family together. St. Bernard's Family Fun will host various events throughout the year—from bowling and skating to parent trivia nights. We are always looking for new ideas! Please reach out to our program coordinator, Sarah Kalash at colorcutstylist06@yahoo.com with suggestions or if you'd like to help plan a future event!
We encourage all St. Bernard's families to attend this wonderful public event hosted nearby AND WEAR YOUR ST. B’S WEAR! It's a perfect chance to connect, enjoy the beautiful fall weather, and show our school spirit!

What a buzz-worthy day at St. Bernard's! 🐝
A huge thank you to alumna Abi Bieganek and BeeKind Bolstad Bees (Trent and Bryan Bolstad) for teaching us all about the amazing world of bees and honey. We learned so much about these incredible creatures and their vital role in our world.
Then, Father Vasek shared the sweet story behind our new bee mascot, connecting it to the wisdom of St. Bernard of Clairvaux. The day got even sweeter when our new bee mascot made a surprise appearance, dancing and celebrating with the students!

Happy Summer Everyone!
The St. Bernard's School 2025-2026 Calendar of Dates and Events is attached. While we generally follow the public school schedule, please note the exceptions marked in RED.
A significant highlight for next year is our extended Easter Break, from April 2nd through April 12th. This extended break will enable our teachers to participate in the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) national convention in Minneapolis. We highly recommend that any families planning extended vacations consider scheduling them during this time to prevent students from missing valuable class instruction.
Please also note the events on the left side of the paper, such as the Christmas Program, so that you can plan for this exciting year!

The St. Bernard's Middle School Spelling Bee took place today, January 9th, in the parish hall, with a spirited competition among 5th and 6th graders. After nine challenging rounds, 6th grader Isaac Philipp emerged victorious, correctly spelling "nostrils" to claim the coveted title.
Philipp will now advance to the Regional Spelling Bee on February 5th at Northland Community and Technical College.
The competition was fierce, with 6th grader Chloe Peterson finishing as runner-up. A tight race for third place saw Albert Peralta and Harley Bernier tied for the honor. In the 5th-grade division, Annalea Sobotta and Claire Price shared the championship title.
Carolyn Larson served as the pronouncer, while Macie Brekke and Laura Brickson diligently fulfilled their roles as judges. The event was well-attended by supportive parents who cheered on the young spellers.
The St. Bernard's Spelling Bee is part of the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee, culminating in the national championship held in Washington, D.C.
Congratulations to all participants for their hard work and dedication!

The 3rd graders delivered 1,180 pounds of food to the food shelf today. A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated - the food shelf volunteers were very impressed and thankful!
And a HUGE thank you to the best parent volunteers a teacher/school could ever ask for! We have the BEST!
