St. Bernard's Lenten Fish Frys

You can order your fish fry meal at any time starting Tuesday noon until Friday noon.

Thank you for serving St. Bernard's faith community by helping make our fish frys a success!  This generates a large portion of funds that is used to grow our parish in various ways.  Please click on the dates to sign up (via SignUp Genius) for any of the positions available.  Job descriptions are listed below for more details.  Thank you so much for your time and serving heart! 
The 2023 St. Bernard's Lenten Fish Fry Fridays include:

Job descriptions 


* Preparing Fish:  Thaw fish and place in tubs for Friday.  

   1:00 – 3:00 pm (4-5 people needed.)

* Cole Slaw:  Make Cole slaw and put in containers and put in fridge. 

   1:00 - 3:00 pm (8 people needed.)

* Tartar Sauce:  Make tartar sauce and put in containers and put in fridge.

   Wednesday or Thursday afternoon/evening (4-8 people needed. More help takes less time!)

* Gravy Maker: Prepare gravy in roaster ovens. 

    1:00 - 3:00 pm (1 -2 people needed.)


* Set Up Frying Area: Set up fryers/stoves etc. for frying fish. 

   Friday: 1:00 - 4:00 pm (1-2 people needed.)

* Preparation Cook:  Cook gravy & prepare veggies, etc. 

   Friday: 1:00 – 3:00 pm (1-2 people needed.)

* Potato Maker:  Prepare mashed potatoes (frozen in bags.)

   Friday: 4:00 – 7:00 pm (1 person needed.)


* Drying Fish:  Layering fish and paper towels to prepare to fry.

   Friday: 1:00 – 4:00 pm (2-3 people needed.)


* Taking Phone Orders:  Record to go orders.

   Friday: 2:00 p.m. –6:00 pm (1 person needed.)


* Phone Order Assistant: Organizes phone orders by locations/addresses for delivery.

   Friday: 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm (1 person needed.)


* Fish Fryers:  Fry the fish.

   Friday: 3:45 – 6:30 pm or until orders are complete. (4 people needed.)

* Serving Line/Kitchen:  Fill orders for curbside/delivery.

   Friday: 4:30 – 7:00 pm (5 people needed.)

Delivery Line/Dining Room:  Fill orders for curbside/delivery.

   Friday: 5:00 – 7:00 pm (5 people needed.)


* Floater: Help where needed filling meals or containers of coleslaw/tartar sauce etc.

   Friday: 5:00 – 7:00 pm (1 person needed.)


* Ticket Sellers:  Receive money from John, set up area in trailer. Sell tickets to customers, clean area when       


   Friday: 3:30 – 7:00 pm (2-4 people needed.)

* Delivery Driver Supervisor: Coordinate drivers for fish fry.  Help drivers with coolers, money bags, check coolers     after fish fry etc. Deliver meals if needed. (1-2 people needed.)


* Delivery Drivers: Deliver meals to home or nursing home locations. Clean out cooler when done.

   Friday: 4:30 – 6:30 pm or until finished delivering.   (8 teams of 2 people each needed.  NOTE: Driver must be 18   

   yrs. or older with valid driver’s license.)


* Meal Runners: Run meals (in totes) and supplies from kitchen/dining room to food truck. Requires walking and     doing stairs.       

   Friday: 4:00 - 6:30 pm (4 people needed.)

* Food Truck workers: place orders of meals/desserts in bags and hand them to customers. Clean up area   

   when done.

   Friday: 4:00 - 6:30 pm (4 people needed.)

* Ticket Takers: Take tickets from customers in line and bring them to food truck. Requires a lot of walking.

    Friday: 4:30 - 6:30 pm (1-2 people needed)

* Kitchen Clean up: Wash and put away dishes, store food, wash kitchen area and mop floor, carry out trash.

   Friday: 5:00 – 10:00 p.m. (8 - 10 people needed. The more help, the less time it takes to finish!)

* Oil Clean Up: Remove the oil from fryers and cleanup the area, Return fryers to storage, oven to main area   

   and relite pilot lights etc.

   Friday: 7:00 - 10:00 pm (2 people needed.  1 must be an adult.)
