"There are different gifts but the same Spirit, there are different ministries but the same Lord ...
To each person the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good."
1 Corinthians 12:4-7
"There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit;
there are different forms of service but the same Lord;
there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone."
1 Corinthians 12:4-6
St. Bernard's provides many different opportunities to get involved and offer your gifts of time and talent back to God. As stewards of God-given skills and abilities, volunteering in a ministry or organization provides a way to thank God, share our faith with others, and enhance our community.
- Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
This team works behind the scenes to transform our worship environment to heighten the awareness of the festive, solemn, or penitential nature of the different liturgical seasons. Although they work behind the scenes, the results of their labor is visible to the entire parish community. A variety of helpers are needed to prepare a prayerful atmosphere in the worship setting space throughout the liturgical year. This includes:
* Seasonal Decorating Crew - People are needed to arrange flowers and plants, to iron and hang banners, and to place other items appropriate for the liturgical season or special liturgy in the church and the gathering space prior to major feasts and seasons such as Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter. Assistance is also needed at the end of the major liturgical seasons to remove the decor and properly store for the next year.
No experience is necessary. Helpers must enjoy working with others, be willing to accept direction, and be able to assist with moving, lifting, and preparing items to be placed in the environment. Contact the Lynette Haugen at 681-3603 if you are interested in being placed on the decorator list.
* Plant Care - Parishioners are needed to help water and maintain plants and flowers in the church and gathering space areas.
* Altar Linens - Parishioners are needed every month to launder and iron the linens used at Mass. Linens are typically taken home to be laundered, ironed, folded and returned. Each person is scheduled approximately one month a year. Contact Misty Mehrkens at 681-3571 or email@example.com for more information.
Training to become an altar server is held once a year in January. Information about altar server training will be sent home through St. Bernard's School and through the religious formation classes.
